The dandelion is a symbol of renewal and new beginnings. The girl in the painting is trying on her mother’s wedding veil, a sign of longing for a new stage of life: growing up, the moment when a little girl slowly turns into a teenager.
Teenagers appear often in my paintings. In my view this is the most fragile period of a human life, when a young person is filled with contradictory emotions and rebuilds childish thoughts into adult ones. It is a trembling and very important time.
